Investments
Investment opportunities in East Africa — with an operator alongside you.
Mount Eagle invests directly and alongside partners across East Africa and the United States. We are an operating group, not a fund: our capital comes with people who have built and run businesses in these markets.
How we think
Five principles, in the order we actually weigh them.
East Africa has capital. What it more often lacks is governance, operating discipline and the patience to build over a decade.
Hospitality, real estate, education and healthcare are not a diversification strategy — they are the four things we have run ourselves.
We are not structured around a fund life. We can hold for fifteen years if that is what it takes.
In frontier markets the upside case writes itself. We spend diligence on title, regulation, currency and counterparty.
Four focus areas
Chosen deliberately, not for diversification.
Emerging Technology
Payments, logistics, property technology, and platforms that put public or health services within reach.
Education
Institutions and training providers where the link between what is taught and what is hired for is provable.
Healthcare
Care delivery, facilities, diagnostics and health services in under-served markets.
Hospitality
Hotels, resorts, and the operating and supply businesses around them.
Three routes in
Direct investment
We acquire and operate businesses and assets outright, principally in hospitality, real estate and education.
Joint ventures
We partner with owners, developers and operators who have an asset but want an operating partner with local capability and governance.
Co-investment
We selectively bring co-investors into transactions we are leading, where the size of a transaction exceeds what we want to hold alone.
